Crescent City

"Crescent City: House of Earth and Blood" delivers an exhilarating blend of urban fantasy and epic adventure, masterfully weaving together magic, technology, and a richly detailed world. Maas has once again crafted a captivating tale that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. This woman can write!

This novel follows Bryce Quinlan, a half-Fae party girl with a tragic past, and Hunt Athalar, a fallen angel enslaved to the Archangels. Their journey from reluctant allies to a formidable duo is filled with tension, chemistry, and heart-pounding action. Bryce’s journey to find her inner strength and Hunt’s struggle with his past make for a compelling and emotional narrative. Their banter and the small moments between make their relationship rich and fun to see unfold.

What I loved:

  1. Urban fantasy setting

  2. Bryce + Hunt

  3. Lehabah

The side characters in this book are just as captivating as the main duo. Lehabah, the adorable and fierce fire sprite, adds a unique charm and depth to the story. Plus, Ruhn, Dec, and Flynn were a terrific trio! Their friendship reminded me of a certain trio of bat boys.

The extensive world-building can be a bit daunting at first. Still, once you get past the initial information, the story unfolds in Maas' signature immersive storytelling style and intricate plot twists.

The use of technology alongside magic in Crescent City is a fresh and intriguing aspect that adds a modern twist to the fantasy genre. The climactic final 150 pages are nothing short of intense, keeping you on the edge of your seat and eager for more.

This novel is a thrilling ride from beginning to end, and I can't wait to see where Maas takes these characters next. As Danika and Bryce would say, "Light it up!" 🌟
