Daughter of the Pirate King
"Daughter of the Pirate King" follows Alosa, a fierce pirate captain on a mission to retrieve a piece of a treasure map that holds the key to a legendary treasure trove.
As a lover of pirate tales, I was immediately drawn to the premise of this book. Plus, who doesn't love a fiery FMC? However, despite the promising start, I found myself wishing for more as the plot unfolded. Alosa was a fun perspective to read from, but I didn't feel super connected to much in this story.
What I loved:
Pirates
Alosa's sassiness
Siren lore
While I had fun reading about Alosa's daring escapades, I couldn't shake the feeling that the story lacked depth and character development. Some moments felt repetitive or drawn out, rather than building upon the characters, world, or plot. Additionally, the romance between Alosa and Riden felt underdeveloped, leaving me feeling disconnected from their relationship.
Despite its shortcomings, "Daughter of the Pirate King" offers a swashbuckling (you're welcome) adventure that will appeal to fans of the genre. While I may not have been fully captivated, I am curious enough to continue the journey in the next installment, albeit with tempered expectations. Beware, it ends on a cliffhanger.
