Finale
"Finale" wraps up the Caraval series, bringing the fates into full play and unveiling more about Tella and Scarlett's mom's mysterious past. This conclusion to the series offers a mix of excitement and frustration, making it a satisfying yet somewhat uneven read.
One of the highlights was delving deeper into the background of Tella and Scarlett's mom, adding layers to the storyline. Jacks, with his morally grey character, kept me intrigued, and I'm looking forward to his story in the Once Upon a Broken Heart series.
What I loved:
The Reveals
Jacks
The Fates
However, I was disappointed with Scarlett's plotline. Her character seemed to regress, almost as if she was back to her first book's mindset, which felt like a step backward in her development. Julian, who had been a significant character, seemed to fade into the background, barely making an impact in this final installment. The love triangle between Tella, Jacks, and Legend also became tiresome, taking up more focus than necessary and detracting from the more interesting fate-related plot.
While the series had its moments of brilliance, the prolonged love triangle and some character regressions made this final book less compelling than I had hoped. Nonetheless, it was a decent conclusion to the Caraval series, even if it wasn't entirely to my taste. However, it probably wasn't the series for me.
