Happy Place
This novel, with its charming setting and quirky characters, had me torn between the joy of friendship and the frustrations of romance. While the friend plotline stole the show for me, the romance left me wanting more. I found myself struggling with the trope of noncommunication/miscommunication, which, honestly, isn't for me.
The trio of Chloe, Sabrina, and Harriet became my favorite within the story. Their dynamics and honest struggle of keeping close over the years added a deeper layer to the narrative. I wanted more of them than of Harriet and Wyn.
What I loved:
The trio of Chloe, Sabrina, and Harriet
Maine cottage setting
The gummi bear chapter ("I feel young!")
While 'Happy Place' delivers on moments of humor and friendship, the romantic plot fell short for me. It's a three-star adventure, with the friend plotline stealing the spotlight.
