It Was Always You

"It Was Always You" by Laura Beth is a heartwarming friends-to-lovers, second-chance romance that explores the ups and downs of love, friendship, and forgiveness. I loved following Jenna's journey as she navigates her past with Emmett and tries to find her place in a world where her past choices still linger.

Jenna is a determined main character who’s easy to root for, especially given her challenging upbringing. The flashbacks to her and Emmett's teenage years add depth to their connection, and I found myself falling for their story right alongside them. Emmett's past mistake threw me for a loop, but it adds a layer of complexity to his character, showing that even the best people make questionable choices. The side characters were a great addition, and I'm curious to see where their stories will go in future books.

What I loved:

  1. Jenna’s resilience

  2. Emmett and Jenna's flashbacks

  3. The side characters

While there is some miscommunication between Jenna and Emmett, it didn't overshadow the story. Jenna’s reaction toward the end might seem like an overreaction, but it felt true to her character's growth, which is still ongoing. The chemistry, emotional depth, and second-chance tension made this a memorable read, and I’m excited for what’s next in the series!
