Meddling Kids

I will be honest, this was a book I started and then stopped. Twice. BUT, I finished it nonethless. HA!

Set against a backdrop of eerie landscapes and haunted memories, 'Meddling Kids' is a homage to the Scooby-Doo gang, but with a darker take. I liked the idea of the story and the idea of the gang solving a case they knew wasn't fully closed, but I struggled to connect to the characters and some of the choices they made. Plus, the beginning half of the novel took a bit to get into and could easily detract readers from continuing on. I kept saying, "let's get on with it."

What I liked:

  1. The darker version of the Scooby-Doo mystery-solving crew

  2. The eerie and atmospheric settings

  3. Tim

While the nods to the supernatural were fun, the story's climax felt rushed and the characters were up and down for me. Let's just say that I felt 'meh' at the end of the book.
