Pawns of Fate and Fortune

"Pawns of Fate and Fortune" takes readers on a magical journey filled with political intrigue and romance. Rose Robson, a noblewoman treated as a pawn by her uncle, finds herself in an arranged marriage with Nicholas Sharp, the heir to a marquess. As dark forces rise in the land of Nipon, Rose and Nicholas must navigate their growing feelings and the dangers that threaten their families.

I am a sucker for arranged marriages, so I knew I needed to read this one. Rose’s magical soothing aura was a fascinating ability, and its effects on others added depth to her character. Her level-headedness and ability to take control of situations made her a compelling protagonist.

What I loved:

  1. The Setting

  2. The Magic System

  3. Rose

This story had a fun magic system and setting, but I did feel like the climax was rushed, and the villain’s impact on the plot was minimal. Also, some moments felt thrown in and not fully integrated into the narrative, but I believe the writing will strengthen as the series progresses. Plus, future books in the series might provide more depth and answers.

Despite these issues, I was interested in Rose and Nicholas’s journey and am eager to see how their story unfolds in the upcoming books.
