Rise of the Cinder Fae

This is my first Dean novel, and I must say that I will be following this author from now on!

This darker Cinderella retelling follows Elora, our fierce and sassy protagonist, who harbors resentment toward the royals of Pumpkin Hollow for the downfall of her homeland and Prince Finnian, who struggles with his past trauma and growing attraction toward Elora.

Dean's storytelling prowess shines as she masterfully weaves together elements of fantasy and romance. I particularly enjoyed the nods to the classic Cinderella tale, which added a nostalgic charm to the narrative. Elora's wit and determination make her a compelling protagonist, while her dynamic with Finnian brims with tension and chemistry.

What I loved:

  1. Fairytale retelling elements (GUS)

  2. Irina

  3. Banter and tension

While the story is engaging, I found myself craving more insight into the fae history and culture. Dean hints at the depth of this world but leaves much to be explored, perhaps setting the stage for future installments. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for further exploration in the next book! (Be prepared, this book leaves you on a cliffhanger)

Overall, "Rise of the Cinder Fae" is a delightful read that will whisk you away to a realm of magic and intrigue. Dean's imaginative storytelling and vibrant characters make this a standout addition to the world of fairytale retellings.
