The Bluff
This is the second standalone book in the Calamity Montana series, which follows Everly Christian, who is grappling with the trauma from the stalker incident from the previous book. One night at the local bar introduces her to Reese Huxley (a.k.a Hux), a grumpy, mysterious artist with a past that makes his present life a struggle.
The two MCs' chemistry starts from chapter one and doesn't lose momentum (and steam). I loved the fake marriage in this story because it was all to help Hux get custody of his daughter. Hux was delicious (who doesn't love a pained artist?), even if he was OBLIVIOUS to stuff right in front of his face.
What I loved:
Tension between Hux and Everly
Fake Marriage Plot
Hux's Paintings (seriously, I would buy one if they were real)
I loved Everly's journey of self-discovery and being open to change. It's so true that sometimes what you thought was your dream ends up just being a job. I do wish I could have seen more between her and her parents. Her parents sucked, and I know there was a moment between Everly and her mom, but I guess I wish there was more after that. If that makes sense?
I can't get enough of @devneyperry's writing and stories. Once again Devney proves her prowess in crafting captivating love stories, making 'The Bluff' a four-star read that delivers on its promise of passion, intrigue, and the artistry of unexpected love.
