I absolutely loved this book! Despite having one of the major reveals spoiled for me beforehand, I was still captivated by the story, especially when the moment unfolded within the narrative. Evelyn Hugo is a force to be reckoned with—her determination, resilience, and unwavering pursuit of her dreams are truly inspiring. I found myself rooting for her every step of the way, even when her choices led to unexpected consequences.
What I loved:
Evelyn and who she loved's relationship
Monique's Self-Discovery
Harry
Monique's character adds a compelling layer to the narrative, serving as a lens through which readers can witness Evelyn's story unfold. I admired Monique's journey of self-discovery and empowerment, which is beautifully intertwined with Evelyn's narrative. I also loved that she apologized and admitted when she made a mistake to Evelyn various times. Her reflection on her missteps and correcting them made her a character to remember.
One of the most heartbreaking aspects of the novel is its showcase of the harsh realities faced by women in Hollywood during Evelyn's era. The sacrifices she had to make and the challenges she had to overcome shed light on a dark aspect of Hollywood's history. Evelyn's resilience in the face of adversity is a testament to her strength and character.
This book is powerful, unforgettable, and offers a strong commentary on fame, love, and the price of success. Thank you @beeverse19 for making sure I kept this on my TBR shelf!
