The Simple Wild
Embarked on an emotional journey with this one! 'The Simple Wild' by K.A. Tucker is a tale of love, self-discovery, and the wild Alaskan frontier. While it took me a moment to get into the story (as it does when the MFC is a spoiled, rich girl), I loved the character dynamics, and the stunning setting soon had me hooked.
Set against the breathtaking Alaskan wilderness, the story follows Calla, a city girl who faces obstacles to reconnect with her father. The side characters were well-written and helped build the community of Bangor. Calla's relationship with her father was beautiful and made me appreciate the strength it takes to forgive someone.
What I loved:
The Alaskan setting
Calla's reconnection with her father
Calla's revenge on Jonah
The only issue I had with this story was Jonah. His pranks and stealing Calla's things annoyed the heck out of me. I didn't like the fact that everyone just accepted his behavior as "Oh, that's just him." Nope. He did redeem himself by the end of the book, but boy did I want to punch him in the face sometimes.
'The Simple Wild' is a journey of love, loss, and finding oneself. If you're a fan of father-daughter reconnection, this one's worth the exploration.
