Under One Roof
Ali Hazelwood's writing shines in this short story, of opposites attracting under one roof. Mara, the environmentally conscious engineer, finds herself at odds with her big oil lawyer roommate, Liam. As you can guess, things are awkward, cute, and steamy.
The tension between Mara and Liam had me hooked from the beginning, and their interactions were both frustrating and heartwarming. I loved the building of their friendship, and I enjoyed their support of one another in their careers.
What I loved:
Mara + Liam
The tension
The forced proximity
Yes, Mara's obliviousness to Liam's interest may raise a few eyebrows, and the plot is somewhat foreseeable, but the charm of the characters and the well-crafted will they won't they kept me engaged. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting.
'Under One Roof' further shows Hazelwood's ability to craft captivating romances, even in short story format.
