Yours Truly

This story follows Briana, whose life is in a downward spiral, marked by a pending divorce, her brother's health crisis, and workplace complications. Enter Jacob, who faces anxiety, a tough breakup, and gets off to the wrong foot with Briana. The DRAMA is high with this one with the fake dating, intrusive (loving) family, exs, and reveals.

The mental health representation in Jacob's character, particularly his struggle with anxiety, adds depth and authenticity to the story. Jimenez beautifully navigates the complexities of mental health, creating a compelling narrative around Jacob's challenges and Briana's coping with her past traumas. Plus, their letter exchanges and fake dating were adorable.

What I loved:

  1. Jacob's portrayal of anxiety

  2. The cute letters between the two MCs

  3. The adorable epilogue

The romance aspect is a slow burn, and while it offers depth, the prolonged miscommunication tested my patience. The third-act reveal added an unexpected layer, but its resolution felt rushed, leaving me wanting more exploration of the aftermath. The story could have benefited from additional chapters post-revelation.

Despite my reservations, the epilogue delivered a heartwarming conclusion, showcasing the characters in a delightful light. 'Yours Truly' is a worthwhile read for those who appreciate a blend of romance and mental health representation. Just beware that this has a lot of miscommunication that lasts a good portion of the book.
